FELON PROFILE: George “Pornstache” Mendez [Season 3 Update & Season 4 Predictions]

Pornstache in PrisonGeorge Mendez (portrayed by Pablo Schreiber), also known as “Pornstache,” was a correctional officer at Litchfield Penitentiary in season one until he was suspended. He later returned in season two, but only for a short while. He looks a “D-List Burt Reynolds, but more rapey,” according to Brook Soso, and his appearance is very telling of his personality. He is misogynistic, the alpha male of the bunch, and a “sadistic fuck” (according to C.O. Wanda Bell). While the prison administration is corrupt in a variety of ways, Mendez is the only guard portrayed as reaping sexual favors in exchange for the drugs he smuggles into prison. He is also the only C.O. That feels invincible.

Gold Derby: Pablo Schreiber Talks What It’s Like to Play Such a Dark Character

Pablo Schreiber (Pornstache) Reveals Why He’s Mustache-less in Season 3

“I was very nervous to do that scene because, to me, the mustache was so important to who he was and I didn’t want to take away his main feature, so I needed some convincing,” Schreiber told Business Insider. Lauren Morelli, Orange staff writer, explained to him that “we’re never going to see Pornstache lower than this.”

This exchange seems to suggest that Pornstache will remain involved in future seasons, despite the fact that he is behind bars.

Cultural Commentary in 307: “Tongue-Tied”

Episode 7 is, frankly, all over the place with all of the themes that are touched upon, from prison safety to American media’s obsession with sexual objectification. This treatment will provide a brief overview of each.

Mary Streenburgen to Play Pornstache’s Mother

Mary Streenburgen Pornstaches Mom

Mary Streenburgen (Step BrothersThe Proposal) is reported to be playing George “Pornstache” Mendez’s mother this season. Although Pornstache will be spending his time behind bars for supposedly taking advantage of Daya Diaz (Dascha Polanco), somehow his story will be developed, we can assume, through Streenburgen’s involvement.
